A cardboard box basically consists of a trough (made from recycled paper) sandwiched between two liners. It is now also common for these liners to be made from substantially recycled content from old cardboard or other second hand paper sources.
However, virgin Kraft is still used for top quality boxes.
To achieve the smooth surface, kraft paper must be made from softwood trees
that typically have long fibers such as Pine, Spruce and Fir trees.
